Naming the Dead:
"Over the past decade more than 2,500 people have been killed by CIA drone strikes in the tribal areas of north west Pakistan. Many of those who have been killed have been described as militants by media reports and officials. About a fifth of the dead are described as civilians. But little more is known about the majority of those that have been killed.
Here is a list, which can be sorted by various filters on the right, identifying those that are reported to have died in the attacks. As far as possible basic biographical information is included in this list, and where available, fuller details can be seen by clicking ‘Case study’.”
Here is the info for just 45 of the 95 identified children killed by drone strikes in Pakistan. So far, only 568 people have been identified out of over 2,500 people killed. There have been 373 US drone strikes in Pakistan since 2004 with between 2,514 - 3,596 people killed.

God tumblr’s so fucking depressing. It reminds me of one of the worst fucking times in my life and thats fucking saying something.good gracious, this place is so artsy and tragic. I just want to laugh and go swimming and kiss my dogs and my niece, but not in that order, and get drunk and look at fireworks and not a computer screen that shows me pictures of quotes like this and of lives like that, pictures of people who arent real and who are miles and miles might as well be lightyears away from me on this screen here. thinking of popcicles and sex and lightning
Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook - Two Planets/Village and Elsewhere (2008-12)
“Every life is in search of a narrative… For the storytelling impulse is, and always has been, a desire for a certain ‘unity of life’. In our own postmodern era of fragmentation and fracture…narrative provides us with one of our most viable forms of identity - individual and communal’” - Richard Kearney
“Two Planets/Village and Elsewhere is about the village (the here) and elsewhere (the there) and how stories link people across continents, cultures and even time-periods.
Rasdjarmrearnsook brought some visitors from elsewhere to her village in northern Thailand. The visitors came in the form of unfamiliar paintings and they told stories from long ago and far away: of dances in Parisian cafés, nude picnics and haymaking. These paintings by Renoir, Manet, and Van Gogh prompted the villagers to share their own stories.”
